Town Hall Meeting

The Family and Youth Services Bureau, Family Violence Prevention and Services Program is seeking assistance and input in identifying a critical partner in the State of Florida to serve as the HHS designated domestic violence coalition.  We invite all interested stakeholders such as domestic violence service providers, community stakeholders, State leaders, and representatives of underserved/unserved populations and linguistically specific populations to attend virtual listening sessions scheduled for September 15th (10:30 a.m.), 17th (6:00 p.m.) and 20th (2:00 p.m.), 2021.   The purpose of these listening sessions are to help inform the decision-making process in accomplishing the Family Violence Prevention Services Act (FVPSA) mandated role of designating a Statewide Domestic Violence Coalition.

Per 45 CFR § 1370.2, a State Domestic Violence Coalition means a Statewide, nongovernmental, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose membership includes a majority of the primary-purpose domestic violence service providers in the State; whose board membership is representative of these primary-purpose domestic violence service providers and which may include representatives of the communities in which the services are being provided in the State; that has as its purpose to provide education, support, and technical assistance to such service providers to enable the providers to establish and maintain supportive services and to provide shelter to victims of domestic violence and their children; and that serves as an information clearinghouse, primary point of contact, and resource center on domestic violence for the State and supports the development of policies, protocols and procedures to enhance domestic violence intervention and prevention in the State/Territory.  Additional details and requirements for what makes an entity eligible can be found at: https://ecfr.io/Title-45/Section-1370.20.

Promising Futures SSAPC Peer-to-Peer Virtual Exchange

The purpose of this meeting is to build the capacity of the SSAPC grantees in Cohort I and Cohort II to better serve families, children and youth affected by intimate partner violence. This will be done by 1) conducting a final lessons learned, grant close out meeting with SSAPC Cohort I grantees (event was delayed due to the impact of COVID-19 on travel and mass gatherings) 2) engaging SSAPC Cohort I mentors as faculty and coaches for Cohort II, 3) connecting SSAPC Cohort I and II grantees to peers and affinity groups with similar programs and goals, 3) discussing successes, challenges, and lessons learned for addressing the needs of children exposed to domestic violence and their abused parents, 4) providing intensive training and technical assistance on areas of identified need with the support of a team of subject matter experts and national technical assistance providers, and 5) providing training on administrative processes and responsiveness to federal awards, in partnership with the Office of Grants Management

FVPSA Government-to-Government Consultation

The FVPSA (Family Violence Prevention and Services Act) Tribal Consultation is a two and a half day virtual meeting to build meaningful relationships with federally recognized tribes receiving FVPSA funding by engaging in open, continuous, and meaningful consultation. The FVPSA Program is inviting Tribal leaders to provide verbal and written testimony on the allocation of FVPSA grant awards for Tribes.  The FVPSA Program will also invite Tribal leaders to give verbal and written testimony on establishing a minimum grant award of $55,000 for each Tribe that applies for FVPSA funding. Establishing a higher minimum base award for each Tribe that applies for FVPSA funding is needed to help smaller Tribes meet the needs of 40,000 women, men, and children, at minimum, seeking their services each year.

The purpose of the FVPSA Formula Grantee Regional Meetings are to provide training, technical assistance and peer mentoring to state administrators, tribes, and domestic violence coalitions receiving FVPSA formula grants.  The meeting presentations focus on FVPSA administrative, programmatic and regulative information as well as the promotion of evidence informed and promising practices to address family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence, per 42 U.S.C. § 10404 (b)(1).  The FVSPSA Program is required to provide technical assistance in conducting programs for the prevention and treatment of family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence. The meeting provides half a day for a new state administrators, coalition executive directors, and tribal program managers orientation and two full days that consist of a combination of joint (all State Administrators, tribal programs, DV and tribal Coalitions) plenaries; facilitated separate group discussions, facilitated joint group discussions, and separate workshops on identified topics.
