SURVIVOR SUPPORT

NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HOTLINE

FVPSA provides funding for the National Domestic Violence Hotline (The Hotline), including its special project, love is respect: National Dating Abuse Helpline, and its partners, StrongHearts Native Helpline and ADWAS: Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services. Over the past 25 years, The Hotline has worked tirelessly to shift power back to those affected by relationship abuse. The Hotline has answered more than 5.5 million calls, chats, and texts from survivors and their loved ones, advocated for policy change, forged lasting and meaningful partnerships, and shifted their advocacy to best meet the evolving needs of survivors. Services have expanded over the years to include digital chat and text.

  • Call 800-799-SAFE (7233) or 800-787-3224 (TTY)
  • Text ‘Start’ to 800-799-SAFE (7233)
  • Live Chat

In 2007, The Hotline launched healthy relationships and prevention services through loveisrespect.org, the first national 24/7 resource and live advocate services specifically for teens and young people. Love is respect offers information, support, and advocacy to young people between the ages of 13 and 26 who have questions or concerns about their romantic relationships. Support is also provided to concerned friends and family members, teachers, counselors, and other service providers, including comprehensive education through quizzes, interactive pages, testimonials, training, toolkits, and curriculum to promote healthy relationships and prevent future abuse.

  • Call 866-331-9474 or 800-787-3225 (TTY)

In 2017, The Hotline partnered with the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center to launch StrongHearts Native Helpline, a 24/7 safe, confidential and anonymous domestic, dating and sexual violence helpline for American Indians and Alaska Natives, offering culturally-appropriate support and advocacy.

And, through a partnership with ADWAS, advocates are available to staff the National Deaf Domestic Violence Hotline 24/7 via TTY and live chat to help people affected by domestic violence who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

FVPSA remains a proud supporter of The Hotline and the dedicated efforts of hotline advocates to provide essential, lifesaving services, support, resources, and personalized safety planning – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
